2020 Game Picking - What if you know you want to trade while we're picking?

We can take advantage of ticket trade ins throughout the season.  There are some procedures and rules that we'll go over later.  There are some advantages:

  • You can get more than 2 seats to a game
  • You can get seats to a game that is already off the board on our picking
  • You can upgrade to other seating locations and just pay the difference in price
You are only able to trade for games of the same price level or lower, so:
  • Premium games can be traded in for: Premium, Select, Value
  • Select games can be traded in for: Select, Value
  • Value games can only be traded in for other Value games
There is no refund if you trade in seats from a higher level game to a lower level game (although you can upgrade your seating to take advantage of the original cost of the tickets).

Legends Club trading - our experience is that the trade ins don't work for the seats behind home plate, regardless if there are seats open.  I can't remember off hand, but something like Sections E-K are blocked off.  You can still get into Club, but they'll be more down the base lines.

Diamond Box trading - Season ticket holders take up most of the seating in the rows closest to the field.  When you trade, it's going to be tougher to get back into those first 10 rows and it's very possible that you'll end up further back from the field so that you're back into a different price level of seats.  Again, the Twins do not refund if your new seats are less expensive that what you started with.  If you do the actual trade of the seats a little bit later in the season, it's possible that some of the closer tickets will open up as other season ticket holders make trades.

What to do if you know during picking that you want to trade in for 4 seats or for another game?

If you want, for example, 4 tickets to the game on Mothers Day vs. KC - tell me that when it's your turn to pick.  I'll reserve enough tickets of the same section and price range.  Then at the end of the game-picking process, I'll give you 4 tickets from other games that were not selected.  In this way, if someone else wants 2 tickets in our normal seats for the same day, they can still get them.

Because the Value and Premium games have smaller inventories - only 16 games of each - we'll need to watch that.  I need to make sure that we have enough tickets left over.  So at some point, even though there still may be calendar spots open, I'll have to block off those games for any more selection.  If you know that you want 4 tickets for any Value or Premium games on the schedule, you should watch the inventory and think about taking those games somewhat earlier in the process.
